Furrys/Furries
Intelligent anthropomorphic (human-like) animal characters. Most animal cartoon characters could be considered "Furries", although this is a topic of much debate for people with too much time on their hands.
hir
The equivalent pronoun for "him" or "her" for hermaphrodite characters. Believe it or not people have thought up words for this.

"I Don't Wanna Know". Also IRDWK, "I Really Don't Wanna Know!"

"In Real Life" (see RL)
lag
The delay between you pressing enter and people seeing your message. This is usually less than a couple of seconds. Sometimes network problems cause messages to be delayed. (see ping)
meef
The noise squirrels make. Supposedly.
naf
"Nice and Fuzzy", in other words, good. Also vnaf (very) or nnaf (not). Not to be confused with the British slang naff, which means exactly the opposite.
nas
"Nod And Smile". What one does to humour someone who's boring you rigid.
netsplit
Occurs when the connection between two servers breaks due to Internet congestion, network problems or other bizarre and random factors. Some or all members of the channel will appear to quit simultaneously with messages like:
*** User has quit IRC (some.server.net other.server.net)
Just grit your teeth and bear it - these things usually don't last very long.
PDA
"Public Displays of Affection", including hugging and kissing.
ping
A special message a user can send to another to find out the "lag" between them (see lag). Most IRC clients let you type /PING user or /PING channel to send out such a message.
pong
The reply to a "ping". Some users set their client up to send (debatably) humorous quotes from channel conversation back when they are pinged. These quotes are also often dubbed "pongs".
player
The person sitting at the keyboard in the real world, governing our every action. Some characters vehemently deny that such beings really exist.
RC--
"Really Cranky". Sometimes prefixed to nicknames, telling you this particular person is in a bad mood. Watch out, they may bite.
Re
"Regreeting", or "Hello again".
RL
"Real Life", i.e. anything to do with the player, not the character (see player). Shouldn't need explaining, but then you never know.
sie
The equivalent pronoun to "he" or "she" for hermaphrodite characters. As in-- no, I can't think of an example that isn't dirty.
snaf
"Sleep nice and fuzzy" (see naf).
TMI
"Too Much Information". Also WTMI, "way too much information". As in, 'Ick, there's green stuff coming out of this spot', 'Ewww, TMI!'.

WBA
"Warner Bros. Animation", the people who made Animaniacs and so on.
Yerf
The sound that foxes make, normally. Also the name of a Furry picture archive, at www.yerf.com.
Yiff
The other noise foxes make. Also a euphamism for, er, what foxes are doing when they make this noise. Apparently a noise foxes make a lot, which is probably why there are so many of them.
